MHC attended the Canadian Labour Congress’s 2026 Convention early this month. It was an excellent opportunity to connect with people from across Canada who are passionate about defending public health care and the rights of all workers.

We were joined by Haylee from the Canadian Health Coalition and together we shared information about the threat Alberta’s “Bill 11” poses to public health care across the country. Bill 11 violates the Canada Health Act and threatens our single-payer status under our international trade agreements, opening the door to private, for-profit insurance companies. Like all privatization, it means worse working conditions, longer wait times, and worse patient outcomes.
At the end of the week, we wrapped up the CLC convention with a rally at the Union Centre. It was a powerful expression of solidarity and what we can accomplish when we work together.
We must continue to build our collective power and use it to fight for a better world for all of us.

Solidarity forever.
